It was also a major military highway getting manpower and material to the west coast right up to the end of the Vietnam War. Of course, it is best-known for its iconic Americana roadside attractions, motels, and diners. This atlas is a convenient way to explore the heartland of America. We have changed the orientation in this edition to west to east, simply because most of us read from left to right. We have changed the orientation in showing the route(s) followed on the back cover.
